Callicoma Hill is owned and operated by Martin Fallding and his wife Jan.
Callicoma Hill is Martin’s vision. He has been responsible for its design and much of the construction. He has implemented sustainable environmental practices on site including alternative energy and environmentally appropriate building techniques.
Martin and Jan are both environmental planners and have had a long interest and commitment to the protection of the Australian natural environment. Martin's environmental planning and land management consultancy, Land & Environment Planning, has won a number of awards for excellence for its innovative work in conservation of biodiversity.
Martin also established Natural Adventures Australia, which undertakes guided walks and activities, so that others could enjoy and learn more about the bush. Martin speaks both German and English.
Jan and Martin are accomplished Australian folk and classical musicians and organise traditional bush dances and other concerts in the Hunter Valley. They are excellent hosts who are committed to helping guests have an enjoyable and educational visit.
The land on which Callicoma Hill is situated is dedicated to biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management practices. It is managed without artificial chemicals and biocides.
